Equipment

  • pot

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 1/2 cup shiitake mushrooms finely minced
  • 1/4 cup green onions thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon minced ginger
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 12 ounce package square wonton wrappers
  • vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  • Place the pork, mushrooms, green onions, soy sauce, cornstarch, salt, pepper, ginger and garlic in a large bowl. Stir until thoroughly combined.
  • Place one wonton wrapper on a flat surface. add a small spoonful of filling to the center of the wrapper. Fold the wonton wrapper in half diagonally so that it forms a triangle.
  • Put your index finger below the bulge where the filling is and press down from the top of the wrapper with your thumb and middle finger.
  • This should form an indentation in the middle of the wonton that makes two of the corners curve in toward each other.
  • Bring those two corners together and use a little water to seal them together. Repeat until you run out of wrappers or filling.
  • Heat 3 inches of oil in a large deep pot to 375 degrees F.Add a few wontons to the oil to fry, turning occasionally until they are golden brown. Remove them to a draining rack placed over a baking sheet so they can drain excess oil.
  • Serve immediately.
